"Widening the lens", AABAT Forum 2013
"Widening the lens", the theme for AABAT Forum 2013 invites us to take a step to the side of our day-to-day practice and consider the broader social, ecological and political contexts of our work.
We hope that Forum 2013 will allow people from a diverse range of backgrounds to discuss the local and wider relevance of Bush Adventure Therapy (BAT), including how BAT practices can be used with people from all walks of life.
Through the theme we will explore:
Frameworks for understanding diverse practices
Keeping the flames of innovation alive
Maintaining rigorous safety practices and accountability
Personal, professional, organisational sustainability
Our ecological backdrop - where do we position our work within broader contexts of health, education, community and environment?
Forum 2013 invites us to collaborate with people from a wide range of disciplines. It encourages us to engage with rich and deep ideas, honed and grounded in practice wisdom. It asks us to step up and critically explore, share and build on our own practices. This year, we will also hear about examples of effective adventure therapy happening in far corners of the world. |
